to playCould a shopping mall refuse to hire someone to play Santa Claus because of their race or gender?

Most images of Santa Claus show him to be a caucasian, older man.

If a person did not fit this description, would it be discrimination of they were not hired because they are not white, older, and male?

Playing Santa is essentially an acting/entertaining job, and involves an extensive costume and make up. So I would think any person with somto playe acting skills could play the role.

What do you think?
If considered an acting job, then it is legal to require a certain look. And that includes race.
I belive you need to be male to be mr santa claus ...
Being denied a job on the grounds of race, gender or religion amounts to discrimination and prejudice. Just because popular folklore has projecteto playd the image of Santa Claus as a White, Old man isn't reason enough to deprive somebody with adequate acting credentials and a capacity to entertain from enacting Santa Claus with requisite make-up to placate the kids and gentry alike.
I suppose it's just like in Hollywood. Everyone gets the chance to audition but only one person gets the role.
